Hey!
I canāt believe itās August already and summer is in FULL FORCEĀ Canāt complain though because Iāll take this hot ass weather over a Canadian winter any day!
Iāve been out and about more, getting my vitamin D3 and tan on. Itās perfect timing because I recently learned about zone 2 cardio training and itās impact on vo2 max and Iāve been nerding out on it.
As you all know, I love lifting weights and workout pretty often. So I must be pretty healthy right?Ā Well, the truth isā¦
My vo2 max score (which is a general indicator of cardiovascular health) is pretty low (sitting at around 36).
When I found this out, I was like āWTF? I donāt even smoke joints, I train hard with weights, HIIT and hot yoga, power walk daily, and I eat all the healthy shit! Why the F*** is my cardio so poor?ā
To be fair, vo2 max is a general measurement, and it doesnāt factor in things like genetics or anxiety. I suspect my genetics arenāt that great because my mom did have me when she was in her late 30s, and truthfully, she didnāt have a great diet nor did I growing up (when no one cared about health LOL).
So now Iām on a mission to improve my vo2 max by adding in zone 2 cardio 3-4x a week to my exercise routine.
Osman, I know you might be thinkingā¦
āOk cool story Anna, but how does this relate to weed?
Well, I posted a new episode all about cannabis and sports/exercise, and tried to answer the question of whether cannabis isĀ actuallyĀ performance-enhancing?
Iām also planning a test where I consume cannabis before a workout and track my heart rate, calories burned, and other key metrics, and compare that against not consuming before a workout
Iām super curious about these results because currently, I donāt use cannabis before working out (Iām a post-workout recovery user).
If you havenāt seen the episode yet, check it out onĀ YouTube,Ā SpotifyĀ orĀ AppleĀ Podcasts
I recently got the Whoop to track my sleep, HRV, recovery score and all of that health shitĀ But it doesnāt stop thereā¦
I want to start testing how my sleep and exercise are impacted by cannabis consumption.
I suspect that consuming cannabis the night before Iāll see less REM sleep, but Iām curious to see what my ārecovery scoreā will be. I know a lot yāall are health and data nerds like me, so Iāll be sharing the results on IG.
Cannabis in relation to sleep and exercise is such an interesting topic because it overlaps all my interests. The plan is to start bringing guests onto the podcast in September, specifically some experts in this field.
Got guest suggestions,Ā Osman?
