About The Recipe
I'm a big matcha person and always on the lookout for ways to elevate my afternoon pick-me-up. That's why I'm super excited to share my latest creation with you: the cannabis-infused iced Strawberry Matcha Latte Recipe.
Get ready for a flavour explosion as we blend the timeless charm of matcha with a refreshing strawberry twist—it's pure magic in a glass! But before we dive into making this enchanting latte, let's take a quick journey into the laid-back history of matcha—a centuries-old tradition that keeps us coming back for more.
What is Matcha?
Matcha has been wowing taste buds for centuries in Japan, where it first appeared as a part of traditional tea ceremonies. This vibrant green powder is made by grinding shade-grown green tea leaves, packing it with a concentrated burst of nutrients.
Now, let's talk about its health perks! Packed with antioxidants, matcha is a true superfood that boosts our immune system and promotes overall well-being. Plus, it contains L-theanine, a natural amino acid that provides calm and focused energy without the jitters. So, not only does matcha taste amazing, but it's also a fantastic addition to your daily routine to keep you feeling fantastic both inside and out!
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Health benefits — matcha is packed with antioxidants and minerals that boost our immune systems big time
- Customizable — you’re welcome to use a sweetener of your choice along with amilk substitute of your choice! Do whatever tastes best to you.
Ingredient Substitutions
- I recommend using fresh strawberries if possible.
- I like using nut milk for this recipe. I tried using cow's milk and the taste didn’t pair well.
- Honey, maple syrup, or date syrup are great natural sweeteners that add can add lots of depth and flavour to this drink. For an elevated infusion option, try my infused maple syrup recipe!
- Highly recommend using ceremonial grade matcha vs culinary grade. The taste is much more robust and flavourful. It is more expensive, but worth it in my opinion.
TIPS & TRICKS
- Using a food processor is going to be the best way to make a smooth puree.
- The fork method can be a bit tricky, another thing you can do is put cut-up strawberries into a zip-lock bag and smash it with the bottom of a bottle.
- Make sure your hot water is below 170F. Anything hotter I find that it can burn the matcha and alter the taste of your matcha.

FAQ
Q: Where can I find matcha powder?
A: These days matcha powder is quite easy to find since it's become a very popular and almost “trendy” drink. Your local coffee shop is likely to have a decent quality matcha powder but if all fails, most grocery stores will have some that’ll do the trick.
Q: How long do cannabis beverages take to kick in?
A: Cannabis beverages are considered to be a cannabis edible, which means that it has to be ingested and processed by your liver before heading up to your blood brain barrier. The onset of cannabis edibles can range from person to person, and can also be impacted by a variety of factors, such as one’s metabolism. Generally cannabis beverages can take anywhere from 30 minutes all the way to 2 hours for the onset, and the experience can last between 4 to 12 hours.
Q: What temperature is ideal for making matcha?
A: 160°F will be the ideal temperature to create your matcha. Don’t let it go above 170°F as it might burn the matcha and change the flavour!
