What is a Witches Brew?

The tradition of Halloween-themed drinks dates back centuries, blending folklore, superstition, and the spirit of celebration.

Halloween, with its roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, marked the end of the harvest season and the onset of the dark, spooky days of winter. People believed that during this time, the veil between the living and the dead was at its thinnest, and supernatural creatures roamed freely. To ward off malevolent spirits, they would light bonfires and don costumes.

Over time, this evolved into the Halloween we know today, complete with spooky decorations and thematic drinks such as the Witches Brew. These eerie libations have become an integral part of Halloween celebrations, offering a playful nod to the supernatural and adding a dash of macabre fun to the holiday.

FAQ

Q: How Long Does it Take to Make This Mocktail?

A: Depending on how concentrated you want your tea, this mocktail recipe will generally take about 20 minutes to make (taking into account the chilling of the butterfly pea tea). If you don’t have 20 minutes during your party, feel free to prep the tea in advance and keep it cool in the fridge until needed.

Q: What if I Don’t Have Dissolvable Plant Powder?

A: Fear not, if you can’t find any dissolvable plant powder at your local cannabis store, it's actually very simple to make! You only need 3 ingredients, tapioca starch/flour, sunflower lecithin, and cannabis oil. Check out my easy recipe here.

Q: What is Butterfly Pea Tea?

A: Butterfly Pea Tea is a caffeine-free herbal tea made from the infusion of the flower petals of the Clitoria ternatea plant. It’s known mostly for its blue-ish color which also changes to purple depending on the PH balance of it. That’s why this mocktail will likely turn out purple - because we change the PH balance of the tea by adding in the lemon juice!

Step 1: Calculate Potency For Your Infusion

Calculate total batch potency by entering product weight (grams), THC/THCA percentage, and CBD/CBDA percentage. Get total THC and CBD in milligrams (mg) for dosing.

(flower, wax, oil, etc)

THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the psychoactive compound in cannabis, while THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is its non-psychoactive precursor found in raw cannabis

CBD (cannabidiol) is a psychoactive compound in cannabis known for its potential therapeutic benefits, while CBDA (cannabidiolic acid) is the precursor to CBD found in raw cannabis, which needs to be decarboxylated (heated) to become CBD with active properties.

(ie. butter, olive oil, coconut oil, MCT oil, alcohol)
