About The Recipe
A Cannabis Infused Mojito Mocktail is a non-alcoholic beverage inspired by the classic Mojito cocktail. It starts with fresh mint leaves and lime wedges, which are gently muddled together in a glass to release their flavours.
Simple syrup is added to sweeten the drink, followed by a cannabis-infused dissolvable powder or a cannabis infused sparkling canned beverage to introduce the desired effects. Ice cubes are then added to chill the drink, and it's topped off with club soda or sparkling water for effervescence. The mixture is gently stirred to combine the ingredients evenly.
The mocktail can be garnished with a sprig of fresh mint or a lime wheel for added visual appeal. The result is a refreshing and flavorful beverage with the invigorating taste of mint, the tanginess of lime, and the subtle infusion of cannabis, providing a relaxing and enjoyable experience without alcohol.
Where did the Mojito Originate?
The Mojito has a rich history tied to the Caribbean island of Cuba. It's believed that the cocktail's name is derived from the Spanish word "mojo," which means to "cast a little spell." This could be a reference to the refreshing and invigorating qualities of the drink.
The Mojito gained popularity among locals and visitors alike in Havana. Its popularity continued to grow throughout the 20th century, especially during the Prohibition era when Americans would travel to Cuba to enjoy alcoholic beverages legally.
The cocktail's rise to international fame can be attributed to the writer Ernest Hemingway, who frequented bars in Havana, including the famous La Bodeguita del Medio, where he was known to enjoy Mojitos. Hemingway's endorsement of the drink helped elevate its status and introduce it to a broader audience.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Mocktails provide a non-alcoholic option that still offers a sophisticated and enjoyable drinking experience.

Ingredient Substitutions
- Cucumber: Did you know that this star ingredient is made up of 96% water! Use as many or as little cucumber slices as you want.
- Stevia: Great option for diabetics or those who are watching out for their blood sugar. You can also use granulated monkfruit. If you don’t have either, regular simple syrup will be fine but won’t be the best type of sugar for you to consume.
- Sparkling Water: I highly recommend getting this ingredients as it does make a huge difference for the drink, but if you’re in a pinch, then opt for tap or filtered water. - Or elevate your mocktail with a sparkling cannabis beverage from the plant store!
- Lime Juice: If you don’t have lime juice, lemon juice will work as well. A little bit of acidity is all this drink needs!
- Mint Leaves: Be generous with the mint leaves and make sure you muddle the leaves to bring out all the aromas.
TIPS & TRICKS
- Shaker: If you have one, that is going to be the best way to make this drink. But I like to keep things simple and easy so I just used a stirring spoon. I generally only use the shaker whenever I have guests over!
- Pre-chilling the ingredients: I like to keep my ingredients cold in the fridge or pop them into the freezer for 10 minutes before making. A chilled drink is always going to taste better than a room temperature one. You can also use ice-cubes.

FAQ
Q: What does mocktail mean?
A: A mocktail is a play on the word cocktail which is the alcohol form of a drink. It’s called a mocktail because we are mocking all of the ingredients of a cocktail but leaving out the alcoholic ingredient. In our case, we’re adding the plant in to create an infused beverage but a lot of the mocktails that you can order at restaurants have 0 alcohol in them!
Q: How long will this mocktail take to kick in?
A: Cannabis beverages are considered to be cannabis edibles, which means that they have to be ingested and processed by your liver before heading up to your blood brain barrier. The onset of cannabis edibles can range from person to person, and can also be impacted by a variety of factors, such as one’s metabolism. Generally cannabis infused bevies can take anywhere from 30 minutes all the way to 2 hours for the onset, and the experience can last between 4 to 12 hours.
Q: Do I have to use Stevia?
A: I know some people don’t love the taste of stevia so feel free to use another sweetener like honey or agave syrup if you’d prefer. You could also try my infused maple syrup recipe and add some extra plant goodness in there if you wanted!
